The first question to ask yourself would be why are you considering a whole body cleanse? Figure out what your motivation is: Are you wanting to drop extra pounds, do you feel overly tired and sluggish, or have you just heard that it’s a cool thing to do? First of all, if you are pregnant or nursing check with your Doctor before doing any type of cleanse, detoxifying the system will impact your child’s milk.
If this is your first cleanse, the best solution may be to start with a very gentle cleanse. The best time to start is the weekend, or close to, as you may find that you are more tired than usual or don’t feel 100% as the toxins start to leave your body. Well, despite excellent testing and diagnostic procedures, doctors admit that 80% of chronic back pain cases are baffling. Contrary to popular belief, many people with either bulging or herniated discs in x-rays deny any pain. Next time you sit down to watch a movie and chow down on some popcorn you might want to choose something that doesn’t contain “artificial butter flavoring.” A Colorado man’s love for microwave popcorn was found to be the cause of his severe respiratory illness.
There are many documented cases of illness among people working in factories that make the artificial butter flavoring used in popcorn; the culprit is a chemical called “diacetyl.” When it is inhaled it permanently damages the airways in the lungs. My family first started to take EFAs in 2005; my son then just over a year old, was not talking. He literally was not attempting any verbal communication whatsoever. Luckily for us our pediatrician, alerted to a possible problem with our son’s development, suggested signing up for an early intervention screening. Early Intervention screening is available at no cost through your local Department of Developmental Services office. She also handed me information for a book she thought would be helpful to read-: “The Late Talker. What to do if your child isn’t Talking Yet” St Martin’s Press May 2003 by Marilyn Agin MD, Lisa Geng, and Malcolm J. Nicholl”

14 January 2008How DO we fit all those vitamins and grains into our daily diets?
Is it time to retire the good old government food pyramid? The original pyramid tells us to eat 6 cereals and grains daily, along with 3-5 vegetables, 2-4 fruits, 2 milks, 2 meats (or alternatives), and granting the occasional use of fats, sweets and oils. Most people would answer with a resounding YES! But did you know there was a new guide distributed in 2005, although it is still most common to see the older guide displayed.
